Absolutely! I have a few friends who are into pottery and it's through them I've learned how truly long of a process it is. One of them said their teacher, and his teacher's teachers, have all been men but the students are all women except for one man. He works alongside a woman who also makes impressive work, but it's his work that makes it into museums. I wonder how representative that ratio is of the pottery community? Another data point I'm curious to know is whose pottery is being purchased for galleries or personal collections? Could men make up a smaller demographic but their work lands spots in museums and collections more often?
